Infos : Schengen and compulsory insurance

Why you have to buy this cover before traveling to Europe ?

Any temporary traveler who does not belong to the Schengen Area needs to present for his visa (or a simple transit in U.E) a certificate of insurance in accordance with the European regulations. This insurance must be valid for the duration of the stay. It must guarantee for a minimum of € 30,000 the costs of medical repatriation and emergency medical or hospital care during the stay.

Any Schengen visa issued by a Member State of the Schengen Agreement is valid for the entire Schengen territory.

What is the Schengen Area ? The Schengen Area refers to the 26 European states that acceded to the Schengen Agreement in 1985 and the Schengen Convention in 1990, namely:

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark (excluding Greenland and Faroe Islands), Estonia, Spain (except Ceuta and Melilla), Finland, France (except Overseas France), Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia , Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway (except Svalbard), the Netherlands (except Aruba, Curacao, St. Maarten and the Caribbean Netherlands), Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland.
